History & Development of REC

Stretching back almost a century, the REC has a long record of setting standards and empowering recruitment businesses to build better futures for their candidates and themselves. REC is champions of an industry which is fundamental to the strength of the UK economy.

Increasing co-operation between the FRES (representing companies) and the IEC (representing individuals) led to a merger in 2000 and the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) was born. At this time the UK recruitment industry was worth £24bn.

Today, the REC is the largest professional body for UK recruitment, representing an industry now worth £38 billion to the UK economy.
